2010 Top 30 // Tunes, Big // Category, Dubstep

Once again, I’m going to have my cake and eat it too.  But wait, does this expression make any sense?  Is there ever a situation in which a person would have cake and not eat it?

“Excuse me, yes, waiter.  I’d like a cake…Noooo, not to eat, I’m going to take it home and hang it on my wall!”

And so, here are my 30 favorite dubstep (& related) tracks I heard in 2010.  Note some overlap with my overall 2010 list, but who are you?  The list police?  Get off my back!

  2. I don’t know anything about dubstep and listen to mostly hiphop, but really like dubstep… so just wanted you and these artists you promote to know what you’re doing really is working. I’m going to hunt these artists down and buy their music, all because of your blog. Keep doin your thing and spreading the art Shiftee! Much love!

  3. Hi Shiftee,

Nice list, I didn’t know some of the tracks, already youtubed them. ;)

I wanted to ask you something, since you seem like an approachable guy (as well as a great dj). I’ve been scratching for some time but only recently started mixing, and there is this doubt I have due to lack of consistent information: How do you mix hip hop using the eq?
I’ve read some articles and watched some videos on it, all of them by dance music dj’s, but I still don’t get how you’re supposed to do it when you only have 8 bars or so to mix two tracks. Could you please share your view on this subject with a tutorial (not necessarily on video, I’d be happy with a blog entry, and I think some other people might share this same doubt)?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for my not-so-good English :)
